Is This Really Progress?
Aug. 1, 2012

Months ago, in an attempt to make my blog kick ass, I signed up for the most popular blogging conference in these United States. BlogHer. A blogging conference for women. (In case your ability to deduce the obvious is broken today)

Now, I may be regretting my decision.

As you may have noticed from my last post, I am going through a little blog-identity crisis. I was very seriously close to quitting the whole blog writing business. It had gotten away from me and it wasn't good anymore. I'm getting the beast back on track now, but I got to this low point by listening to too much advice about how to "improve" it in the first place.

I'm terribly concerned that if I go to three days of blogging advice from very successful bloggers I will come out more in-crisis than before. I don't know if my blog will survive any more "tips" for improvement. Aaaaand now I'm crying.

Grrr. Gah-rrrrr

So we're all going to make a goal together. (I need you, my little support system of readers.)

Here are my goals for the conference this weekend...

1) Meet new people and make blogger friends.

B) Feel inspired to write the blog I once loved

*) Have fun.

I'll check back with you all next week about how it went. Hopefully it will go well and we will all benefit from what I learn.

In the mean time, feel free to comment or email me your encouragement. I'm nervous as hell. It's the first day of school all over again and last night I even had a dream I was naked. (However, it was less traumatizing and more exciting than I remember them being when I was younger)

Wish me luck.

Girl, I GOT you. My blog started as a wedding planning blog & now it's just sorta... there.... I have similar hopes to re-focus my blog & get inspired again. From what I've heard, BlohHer will help with that. Remember the Serenity Suite is there to decompress & if all else fails (or actually, *before* all else fails) text/tweet me. I'm DM'ing you my number now! Keep an open mind & Savvy pants on! :) Excited to meet you!

I have the same exact hopes and plans for BlogHer, I'm so looking forward to it! Will you be at the expo tonight? Looking forward to meeting you!

You'll be fine! I know this because unlike the first day of school where you have to worry about if you're the cool kid, that worry is gone. NONE of you are the cool kid. jk. I am pretty confident that you more than anyone understands that everyone there is an individual with specific passions that make them want to blog. So there are no superstar bloggers unless you put them on that pedestal. They could have a bazillion readers but if you don't love the style or it doesn't appeal to you in any other way then they are just another person at the conference. I agree with you... make friends, have fun, but be you.

Travis!! Thank you. I will admit I have been letting mysel be intimidated by "superstar bloggers". My blog might be small, but my personality is huge!!

  • I find the best solutions to be the savvy ones. For example, when life gives me lemons, I squeeze them on the fish sticks that life gave me the day before. This blog is where I share my savvy solutions with the rest of the world.

What qualifies to dispense such unsolicited advice to the Internet at large? Well for one, I have been savvy since 1982, before even the McNugget existed. But also, I have these great credentials.
